St James’s Health Club is a timeless sanctuary where you can escape the rush of modern life.
Situated
in the heart of London’s West End and St. James’s for over 20 years, it
is a world away from the hectic pace of the capital.
Here
you can indulge in first class massage therapies and use our sauna,
steam room and small gymnasium – the perfect way to relax, unwind and
take some time out.
You are welcome to rest in our peaceful lounge area with a drink from the bar, read the newspaper or watch TV.
St
James’s is far removed from the high-pressured atmosphere of large,
modern gyms and is a place where staff know your name and treat you as
a guest.
We
have around 20 highly qualified massage therapists at St James’s who
offer a wide range of treatments from simple neck and back massage to
Thai and Shiatsu.
Many of our therapists have been working here for several years,
contributing to our friendly atmosphere where staff and clients get to
know each other.
You can come for half an hour or half a day, depending on how indulgent you are feeling!
Massage has many benefits and is recognised as an aid to health care –
lowering stress levels, improving circulation, aiding recovery from
injury and strengthening the immune system.
At St James’s Health Club we offer the following kinds of massage:
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage can be strong and deep or a lighter and more relaxing
massage – you can tell your therapist how you prefer it. This treatment
can concentrate on the neck and back, where stress and tension are most
obviously felt, or the whole body.
Shiatsu
Shiatsu massage is a Japanese therapy which works on the meridians and
pressure points of the body. It aims to unblock the meridians to help
energy flow through the body, helping relieve general depression and
lethargy.
Thai
Thai massage is a strong effective massage, similar to Shiatsu.
Techniques involve gentle pressure with hands and feet and a variety of
movements that manipulate and stretch the body.
Aromatherapy
If you want to be soothed, aromatherapy massage is the one to choose.
It uses natural essential plant oils, which release therapeutic
properties that are easily absorbed into the skin.
Reflexology
This foot massage works on the pressure points and reflexes of the
foot, which are linked to other areas and organs of the body. It is a
gentle therapy that encourages the body to work naturally to restore
its own healthy balance.
Our
small but well equipped fitness suite provides you with the perfect
place to work out, away from the typical high-pressure gym environment
of larger health clubs.
Our
qualified instructor can work with you as a personal trainer – devising
a programme specifically for you and helping you reach your individual
goals free of charge.
As a member of St James’s you can use the gym equipment seven days a week until late in the evening.
